Those of you who would like to study mycelium and can't find agar, can't afford it, or whatever your reason may be, can use this little technique.

Ingredients:

Preparation of media(for each jar):

For a thinner layer:

To inoculate with a spore syringe (multispore) simply flame needle, wipe with alcohol, and plunge syringe in through the polyfill, tyvek and inject 1 (one) drop of spore solution in the center of media.
Remove syringe, replace foil and incubate at 80°F - 85°F.

This colonizes 100% in about 2 weeks or less (less using the thin layer) .

Once you have the growth you are looking for you can transfer a wedge to the grain of your choice.

This is has worked well for me, and I hope you can find it useful.
